Renowned Canadian songwriter Stephen Fearing is posed to once again captivate listeners with the release of his next album, The Empathist. The 10-track record, produced in collaboration with Grammy-nominated drummer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), showcases Fearing’s ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with rich, immersive soundscapes. Recorded in Nashville over a whirlwind week, The Empathist features contributions from longtime Blackie & The Rodeo Kings bassist John Dymond and Nashville multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke, whose mastery of pedal steel, piano, and saxophone adds depth and texture to the album. Following the release of The Empathist, Fearing will hit the road with his longtime collaborators, the award-winning Danish indie-folk band The Sentimentals. Their dynamic partnership, which began in 2018, has lit up stages across Europe and Canada, bringing a unique fusion of classic Tin Pan Alley songwriting and innovative folk elements to life. Their collaboration was first celebrated on Fearing’s 2022 album Vejpoesi (Danish for “Road Poems”), recorded over three days in Denmark’s Maskinhallen theater. Together, Fearing and The Sentimentals have developed a distinctive sound, blending tradition and experimentation into performances that captivate audiences night after night. As Stephen Fearing and The Sentimentals tour The Empathist, fans can expect an emotionally charged live experience that highlights the creative risks and bold musical interplay that have defined Fearing’s career. With each performance, they continue to push the boundaries of roots music, weaving together authenticity and innovation in a way that resonates deeply with listeners.

Two time JUNO Award winner Rose Cousins will bring her new album, Conditions of Love - Vol 1 to Festival Place on April 1, 2025.

Ever the emotional explorer, Rose Cousins seeks truth, in all its imperfection, in the depths of humans’ most complicated of emotions: love. The journey results in a striking clarity, and it’s the gift of that clarity that brings on surprising tears. Rose holds her listeners’ hands and guides them through the "conditions of love."

Rose shares, “Love feels great and makes us ridiculous. It's tiring and intense, joyful and devastating. Falling in love, being in love and staying in love are all such different things. Being human is emotionally complicated enough without attempting to relate to another who is just as complex, and in the most vulnerable of arenas: romance. Love is wondrous and absurd (and very hard). Humour helps.”

Looking back and clips of Bowie during this time you see a man in complete control rewiring what you thought was entertainment. David’s arrangements coupled with his technicolour lyrics, denote genius - a man on his own path taking on the world and the only way for him to do this was via mars. David Bowie is the one historical figure that i’d like to have dinner with, we’d start with tea, then perhaps some brandy and i’d ask him - who does your makeup?

Released on boutique Alberta record label, Chronograph Records, this album pays tribute to the jazz legend who was both a world-class musician and a champion of the performing arts across Canada. The musicians carrying out this task represent some of the finest talent in Canadian jazz, but more significantly comprise a group of individuals who were influenced greatly and personally by Banks’ as a mentor, bandleader and collaborator.

The Honourable Tommy Banks was known as a pianist, conductor, arranger, composer, TV personality, actor, producer and politician (1936-2018). Tommy had an unparalleled, multi-faceted career spanning more than 60 years in virtually every aspect of the entertainment industry in Canada. A professional jazz pianist at age 14, he went on to lead his own bands, conduct symphony orchestras around the world, direct musical ceremonies at international events, host his own long-running television show, and act in film and television. He also served nearly 12 years in the Canadian Senate.

Tommy was chair (1978-86) of the Alberta Foundation for the Performing Arts and chair (1983-87) of the music program at Grant MacEwan College, Edmonton. He was a member (1989-95) and a policy consultant (1996- 98) of the Canada Council, and the chairman of the Edmonton Concert Hall Foundation (1989-91). In 1999, Edmonton named a street Tommy Banks Way in his honour. In 2010, he received SOCAN’s special achievement award for his contributions to Canada’s music industry and musical heritage.

Supported by the CKUA Radio Foundation, this album pays tribute to Tommy’s legacy as an artist, but also to the important marks he left on Alberta and Canada as a community leader, politician, and champion of the performing arts.

Easter in Sherwood Park is a 90 minute presentation that includes live music and a message from scripture that will help us celebrate the full life we find in Jesus Christ.

Note: There is a full children's’ program (ages 6 months-grade 5) taking place at the same time. You do not require a ticket for your child to attend the children's’ programming.

The stones’ best album opens with brown sugar, closes with moonlight mile. One of the greatest album closers of all time. The guitar playing is very forward thinking. Keith at the top of his game. Lots of different sounds and instrumentation, all accompanying Mick’s poetry. “tell me sister morphine - when are you coming ‘round again’. I’ve always maintained that Mick is a great lyricist it’s takes a big band to get this right. Strings horns keys, 3 guitarists, the acoustic work takes 5 different guitars. It’s complex and not easy to do but we got it we love the stones always have. There’s a hint of a lifestyle attached to loving the stones, a swaggering kind of attitude, we got that too.

Sticky fingers is the stones’ best album, we’re going to pay it the ultimate respect and perform it note for note - cut for cut.

Many of us recognize her from the platinum-selling Number 1 hit song “Stay (I Missed You)” from the film Reality Bites. Since then, she has enjoyed a successful career in music, film, television, voice-over work and children’s recordings. In addition to raising two children in LA, she stays busy working on her growing eyewear line, her music for grown-ups as well as books and CD’s for kids and families.
